DIVING INTO DAISY

"Not all those who wander are lost" - J. R. R. Tolkien

Born in Amsterdam, raised in Portugal, India, South America, Nepal, and North America, and have now found myself in LA and the Bay Area. Having been raised around the world has its advantages, like being able to blend into any social setting and speaking many languages, but having found home in California has helped me discover my strengths.

At nineteen I set out to travel the world alone, and continued this journey for 4 years, visiting every corner of the earth that I could. Traveling as a single woman can have its hardships, especially in sleeper trains across Northern Asia, and in the jungles of Colombia, but it also taught me how to stand strong and camouflage myself into any crowd. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and would often find myself alone in an empty apartment in some far away world not having a clue what to do with myself, but going out and making a day of it and accepting the fact that alone is OK, too.

Working Woman

While I traveled I would work, and I would work until I could afford another plane ticket to wherever that might take me. I would be behind bars at small local pubs, work contract jobs as a photographer, lead hikes through the jungles and work at hostels in exchange for a bed. This made me strong, versatile, and flexible. I am forever grateful for that time, because I now know what it means to get your hands dirty, and to stop at nothing to get the job done.
